Outpatient treatment is significantly less expensive than residential and allows you to continue working.

By type

Standard outpatient (weekly therapy): $100-$250/session, $400-$1,000/month. IOP (3-5 days/week): $250-$800/week, $2,000-$8,000 total. PHP (5 days/week, full day): $400-$1,200/day.

MAT costs

Suboxone: $100-$500/month for medication plus $100-$300/month for required therapy visits. Methadone: $100-$400/month at an OTP clinic. Vivitrol (naltrexone injection): $1,000-$1,500/month for the injection alone.

With insurance

Most plans cover outpatient treatment with copays of $20-$50 per session. IOP and PHP typically require pre-authorization. Total out-of-pocket for a full IOP course may be $500-$2,000 with insurance.

Without insurance

Sliding scale community health centers offer therapy for $10-$50/session. State-funded outpatient programs may be free. Telehealth options are often more affordable than in-person.
