How to get more Google reviews for your treatment center

Published April 21, 2026 · 7 min read

Google reviews are the second most important factor in family decision-making after insurance acceptance. Most treatment centers do not ask for them.

Why reviews matter

4.0+ stars significantly increases call volume. 10+ reviews establishes credibility. Specific reviews mentioning staff names, programs, and outcomes are most persuasive. Reviews are free marketing that works forever.

How to get them ethically

Ask at discharge (when satisfaction is highest). Send a follow-up email 30 days post-discharge with a direct link to your Google review page. Make the process as easy as possible (direct link, not just instructions). Train staff to mention reviews during positive interactions. NEVER incentivize reviews (violates Google policy and potentially HIPAA).

Responding to reviews

Respond to ALL reviews (positive and negative). Thank positive reviewers without confirming they were patients. Respond to negative reviews professionally without confirming patient status. Take specific complaints offline.

Compliance

Never confirm that a reviewer was a patient (42 CFR Part 2). Keep responses general. Responding with we take all feedback seriously is safer than addressing specific clinical details.
