Playing the tape forward: The craving technique that works

Your brain shows you a highlight reel: the first drink, the rush, the relief. It edits out everything after. Playing the tape forward adds the rest of the movie back in.
How
When the craving shows the first drink, manually play forward: the second, the third, the 2 AM regret, the morning shame, the broken promise, the reset of your sober count. Play ALL of it, not just the trailer.
Why it works
Cravings present a false choice. Playing the full tape compares the entire experience of using against a 15-minute craving. The full tape makes the choice clearer.
