Poppers (amyl nitrite, butyl nitrite) are inhaled vasodilators used recreationally for euphoria and muscle relaxation.

Risks

Maculopathy (vision damage) from repeated use. Dangerous blood pressure drops. Fatal when combined with PDE5 inhibitors (Viagra, Cialis). Methemoglobinemia (impaired oxygen transport). Chemical burns if liquid contacts skin.

Vision damage

Poppers maculopathy causes central vision loss. Some cases are reversible with cessation; others are permanent.
