How long does PCP stay in your system?

Reviewed for accuracy by licensed clinical professionals.

PCP is highly lipophilic (fat-soluble), meaning it accumulates in fatty tissue and releases slowly, creating one of the longest detection windows of any drug.

Detection

Urine: 7-14 days for occasional use, up to 30+ days for chronic heavy use. Detected on standard drug panels (most 5-panel and all 10-panel tests include PCP). Blood: 1-3 days. Hair: up to 90 days.

Why so long

PCP accumulates in fat tissue with repeated use. The body releases stored PCP slowly over weeks, maintaining detectable levels long after last use.

Clinical significance

PCP-induced psychosis can persist for weeks after last use. Emergency room presentations with PCP intoxication require extended monitoring.
