Psilocybin and its active metabolite psilocin have very short half-lives, making detection difficult and rare.

Detection

Urine: 24-48 hours with specialized testing. Blood: less than 24 hours. Standard drug panels do NOT test for psilocybin. Specialized testing exists but is extremely rare.

Why they are hard to detect

Psilocin has a half-life of approximately 50 minutes. The body eliminates it rapidly. Standard immunoassay tests do not cross-react with psilocybin.

Practical reality

Psilocybin testing is essentially never performed in workplace or standard treatment settings.
