Nar-Anon is a 12-step program for families and friends of people with drug addiction, similar to Al-Anon but focused on drug use rather than alcohol.

How it differs from Al-Anon

Al-Anon focuses on alcohol. Nar-Anon addresses all drugs. The principles are the same: you did not cause it, you cannot control it, you cannot cure it. Both are free and widely available.

What meetings are like

Similar to other 12-step meetings: speaker shares, group discussion, step study. Anonymity is maintained. No one is required to speak. Cross-talk is limited. Meetings are free.

How it helps

Reduces isolation among family members. Teaches healthy boundaries. Provides community with people who understand. Helps you focus on your own wellbeing rather than managing the addicted person's behavior.
